Boat safari in the mangrove wetland to see fish farming, try fish massage, learn about cinnamon production and visit a small island temple. Next stop is a turtle hatchery, on a mission to save the Sri Lankan sea turtles. On the last stop you will learn about the famous gem, moonstone.

Whale Watching + Visit to Mirissa Beach
MIRISSA is the closest point to where the enormous blue whale are inhabited. Bryde’s whale, sperm whale, killer whale, pilot whale and dolphins can also be seen.
The boats leave early every morning at 7 AM from Mirissa. The duration of the boat trip will be between 2-6 hours depending on how fast the whales will show up. You will be served a simple breakfast aboard.
After the whale watching the driver will take you to one of the charming beach restaurants in Mirissa (meal is not included). Then transport back to Hikkaduwa which will drop you at the hotel around 2 PM.

Safari in Yala or Uda Walawe National Park
There are several National Parks in Sri Lanka, and two of the most famous one can be reached from Hikkaduwa in one day. Both are a wildlife lover’s paradise!
YALA is close to 1.000 sqm big and has a variety of ecosystems including forests, grasslands, wetlands, and sandy beaches. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals and most famous for the highest leopard concentration in the world. But also elephant, sloth bear, jackal, buffalo, crocodile, snake and thousands of birds and insects can be seen in Yala.
UDA WALAWA is most famous for elephants and during a safari in this park, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants feeding or bathing and playing in the water! In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard, as well as being an exciting location for bird enthusiasts.

Ella + Safari + Elephant Transit Home
DAY 1: Today’s route takes you along the southern coast, and then up to the Highlands of Sri Lanka. The nature is beautiful: mountains, tea plantations and waterfalls. In the evening, you can hike to Little Adams Peak to get an amazing view from the top. This is an easy trek, just two hours in total.
DAY 2: Visiting the Elelephant Transit Home, where they take care of orphaned elephant calves until they are independent and able enough to be released back to the wild.
In the evening you will join an evening jeep safari in Uda Walawe National Park. This park is famous for herds of elephants, but you can also spot crocodiles, buffaloes, deers, mongoose, jackals, water monitor lizards and much more.
Arrival back in Hikkaduwa in the late evening.

Galle + Stiltfisher + Safari + Temple
DAY 1: We’ll have a quick stop to visit the fort of Galle, which was built by the Portuguese in the 1500’s. Galle offers a fantastic view of the ocean and has a multitude of charming streets and cosy, one-of-a-kind shops. You will also get a chance to take a photo of the famous stilt fishermen on the way along the south coast.
In the evening you arrive at Yala National Park. A jeep will take you around this enormous national park, where you can see leopards, elephants, buffalos, sloths, bears, crocodiles and a wealth of birdlife.
DAY 2: After breakfast, we arrange a visit to the Kataragama Temple, a well known pilgrimage site for all the religions in Sri Lanka. The temple complex is also visited by numerous monkeys every day, making quite a show for the visitors! On the way back you will stop for lunch at a nice beach restaurant in the Tangalle-area.
Arrival back in Hikkaduwa in the evening.
